Expanding Your Family
Few experiences are more joyous and filled with love than welcoming a child into your home and life. The process of legally adding a new member to your family, however, is not always easy. The process can be very difficult depending on the type and circumstances of the adoption. This is where I come in.
My name is Tom Gurewitz. I guide families in Waukegan and throughout Lake County, Illinois, through the complicated adoption process. I believe strongly in adoption and will use the knowledge I have gained through decades of experience to support and strengthen your family unit.
Handling All Types Of Adoptions
There are many different ways and reasons to adopt a child, and it is important to have a lawyer by your side to ensure you and your potential child is protected. I have decades of experience handling all types of adoption, including:
- Stepparent adoptions: When your stepchild’s parent is no longer in the picture, adoption may be the best way to solidify your family unit. A stepparent adoption is simple if the child’s biological parents agree to it. If one parent does not agree, it can be a lengthy process. I will help you through the litigation to demonstrate why it is in the best interests of the child.
- Related adoptions: When a parent is unfit to care for his or her child, often a family member, such as a grandparent, aunt or uncle, will adopt the child to give him or her the family life he or she needs and deserves.
- Unrelated adoptions: I can help you adopt a child who is currently in foster care or who is being given up for adoption by his or her parents.
